Man Who Threatened to Blow Up Buffalo VA Sentenced

Demont Coston, 56, was convicted of assaulting a federal employee and sentenced in federal court.

According to Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Henning, Coston called the Department of Veterans Affairs hotline last September and repeatedly threatened to blow up the Buffalo VA building. Coston called back later that day and said, “I should blow it up… I should burn the building down.”

The next day, Coston texted the crisis line with a message saying “The VA has done nothing for me in 30 years, it’s time to get rid of it, by any means necessary.” He also sent a text message, “I’m removing all VA installations, but I have one in mind first” And “I’m in Washington, near the main VA, ha ha ha well, I know where to find them.”
