ROSEBURG POLICE CRIME MAN FOR Illegal CAMPING – KQEN News Radio

July 12, 2024, 10:50 a.m.

Roseburg police charged a man with illegal camping on Thursday.

A report from the RPD said the 48-year-old tied a hammock to trees in the parking lot near the wading pool at Fir Grove Park in the 1300 block of West Harvard Avenue shortly after 10:45 a.m. There was even a tarp tied to the trees over the hammock to act as a cover. The hammock was over at least one parking space, making it unusable for parking a vehicle.

The man was reportedly very confrontational and stated that he was unaware of the time, place and manner of entry regulations that prohibited him from attaching objects to trees.

He was given a citation and released at the scene. He also had a shopping cart confiscated and was warned that if he came into contact with such a cart in the future he would be charged with theft.
