It will continue to be very hot this afternoon. Temperatures around 35 degrees are not uncommon. Humidity will be moderate, so the heat index will rise to over 35 degrees in some places.

The chance of a passing shower today is 10%. Over northwest Middle Tennessee and southwest Kentucky it is 20%.

The night will remain very warm. Low: 73.

THIS WEEKEND:

Due to dangerous heat and humidity, First Alert Weather Days are in effect this weekend. We will have lows of 24 degrees and highs of 35 degrees. The feel temperature will be just above 38 degrees. Due to the extreme heat expected, take all necessary precautions and measures to protect yourself and your loved ones.

The chance of rain remains low this weekend, with a 20% chance of a passing shower on Saturday and 10% on Sunday.

NEXT WEEK:

Monday through Wednesday are First Alert Weather Days with more dangerous heat and humidity.

On Monday, temperatures in Nashville are expected to reach 100° for the first time since last year.

The high temperature on Tuesday will be very close to that mark at 99°.
