Bus Éireann has suspended bus services in O’Malley Park, Limerick this afternoon following a shocking attack on a female bus driver on Friday 12 July 2024.

A Bus Éireann driver, who was only in her second week on the job, was approached by a gang of youths at a bus stop.

They refused to pay the fare and started threatening the bus driver to allow them to board the bus.

According to a spokesman for the NBRU, the driver was very afraid of the gang and felt intimidated, so he decided to let them board. As they were exiting the bus, a gang member pulled out an air pistol and shot the driver in the face, hitting her just below the eye.
