Why Real Housewives of Atlanta Needs Phaedra Parks Back

It was a sad day in 2017, shortly after Season 9 aired. At the time, Bravo announced that Phaedra Parks had been dismissed from the The Real Housewives of Atlanta. For years, the mother of two served up the sweet tea at ALT. Phaedra was a force to be reckoned with between her feuds with Kenya Moore and her multiple business ventures. After she helped spread a damaging rumor about Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, the network had no choice but to give her a termination notice.

For years, viewers have been treated to a show without Phaedra. But last year, Season 2 of The Traitors reminded us just how much we’ve missed the mortician. Now that Kandi has left the building for bigger and better things, rumors are swirling that the network is in talks to bring Phaedra back into the fold. With all the upheaval going on, this could be the best move Bravo has made in quite some time.

Phaedra Parks has game

As a true Real Housewives star, you have to be able to handle crises. You also have to stay calm under pressure and verbally eviscerate your enemies. And bring the drama and schemes their way. Phaedra was perfect for this role because she is very accomplished and educated. Phaedra is a Housewives legend and could teach a masterful lesson on deception. As stated above, her big fall from grace was the drug and rape rumors. She somehow managed to hide her plot from the entire cast. Phaedra was one of the sleaziest Housewives of all time. But she knew how to play the game, which is what made her so great at her job.

Who could forget that she was pregnant on her first season of Real Housewives of Atlanta and lied about her due date because her wedding and conception dates didn’t match up? The Southern belle wanted to maintain a sense of virginity even though it was obvious she hadn’t been chaste. Her husband, Apollo Nida, went to prison for wire fraud, and she managed to keep her hands clean despite the presence of one of her husband’s accomplices, Angela Stanton, who even wrote a book about Phaedra and her alleged involvement in the affair. So again, Phaedra knows how to get away with it.

The mother of two’s popularity is especially strong thanks to her syrupy voice and silly one-liners. It’s hard not to want to see Phaedra in her element. Phaedra’s seasons have been some of the most popular, and Bravo needs good reviews after a rough news cycle last year. Phaedra was fun up until her final season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She was great at cracking jokes and wearing flashy outfits. To many, she was the second coming of NeNe Leakes: funny, country, and witty.

Phaedra Parks May Give a Reading

The lawyer could also read any of her colleagues like the back of their hand. Phaedra was often considered a wordsmith in her day. The way she would tell the ladies they better “get back” was historic. While not all of her readings were very pleasant, Phaedra was the queen of the shade on Real Housewives of Atlanta. The current seasons have gotten a bit stale, which is why Bravo is currently scrambling to come up with a new game plan.

Phaedra finally gets a chance to come back, but only because Kandi left the show. If she were to come back, I think fans would be split. Some still think she shouldn’t be rewarded for her cruel plot against Kandi, and others think she’s served her time. All I know is that I miss her shenanigans on my small screen every week. It’s safe to say that she may not be the best person ever, but she was one of the best Real Housewives to ever grace the platform. If Bravo decides to bring her back, I think it would be a smart move on their part, especially if Cynthia Bailey joins her.
