2 people killed in house fire in Oakland County

HAZEL PARK, Michigan. – Two people were killed in a house fire in Oakland County overnight.

Police said they received a call at 5:03 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, about a fire at a home in the 1500 block of East Muir Avenue in Hazel Park.

When police and firefighters arrived, they found a burning house.

According to authorities, firefighters extinguished the flames and found two dead people, aged 80 and 59.

No third-party negligence is suspected.

The investigation is being conducted by detectives and a fire inspector from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
