Atlanta mother suffers horrific injuries after being attacked by horde of deadly spiders

A single mother of three suffered horrific injuries – her face was swollen and her skin felt like it was “burning” – after she was attacked by a horde of highly venomous spiders in her Georgia home.

Jessica Rogue, 44, told AtlantaNewsFirst that she encountered several brown recluse spiders while cleaning out a shed outside her Atlanta home on July 1.

“I was in there sweeping when I suddenly felt something on my face next to my eye. I felt like I had been bitten,” she said.

According to WSAZ, Rogue said the brown recluse spiders bit her in several places, including her face.

“I was infested with spiders. There was a tangled web where I was and I was trying to clean it,” she said.

Less than 24 hours later, Rogue was taken to the hospital because her face, arms and neck were swollen and she was covered in rashes. A bite from a brown recluse spider can be fatal.

“My eye is what really worries me. My eye hurts a lot. I just don’t know what will happen to my eye,” she told the local news agency with an eye patch on her head.

A GoFundMe campaign to help Rogue with medical expenses has raised $2,360.

“She is experiencing numbness and loss of movement in her hands and feet (not sure if it is temporary or permanent) and her skin is burning,” wrote fundraiser organizer Morgan Underwood.

“She is unable to work, has three beautiful daughters and is still in hospital.”

In a July 5 update, Underwood said Rogue was recovering, adding that “the swelling in her face has gone down a lot” but that it is “now covered in an itchy, painful rash.”

“Her arms, neck and chest are also covered in an itchy, painful rash and the areas where she was bitten are covered in blisters, so we’re keeping an eye on that,” the update said.
