STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT DAY: Another day of extreme heat, but cooling coming on Sunday | Warnings

STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT DAY: Another day of extreme heat is expected for Tucson. The National Weather Service has extended its warning for select areas.

The biggest impact is the health risks associated with extreme heat. The risk of heat exhaustion, heat cramps, heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses increases significantly after several days of extreme heat.

It is important to wear light and loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and try to avoid strenuous activities during the hottest periods. Instead, try to schedule activities for the early morning or evening hours.

There will be fewer thunderstorms today than yesterday. Thunderstorms will be mainly south and west of Tucson, with only a few storms possible in Tucson. Heavy rain and localized flooding may still occur at times, but the main danger will be wind and dust. A much stronger monsoon pattern will return to the region toward the weekend. The main danger will be damaging wind, heavy hail and heavy rain. Highs will cool back down to seasonal levels near 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Today: Excessive heat. High: 110°
  • Tonight: Mostly clear. Low: 82°
  • Tomorrow: Scattered afternoon storms. High: 107°
