An armed robbery suspect was arrested overnight, Lubbock police said

LUBBOCK, Texas – Lubbock police said 37-year-old Derrick Thomas was arrested Wednesday evening by the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center in connection with a robbery in the 7200 block of 19th Street Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the 7200 block of 19th Street early Wednesday morning for a report of a robbery. The victim told officers he was trying to buy drugs from Thomas when he robbed and shot him. LPD said the victim left the scene and called police.

Thomas was arrested in the 7300 block of 19th Street after the Lubbock Major Crimes Unit received a warrant. Thomas was transported and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center and charged with aggravated assault.

As of Thursday, Thomas remained at LCDC on a $300,000 bond.
