The Diplomat Star Keri Russell claims girls who looked “sexually active” were cut from popular TV series The Mickey Mouse Club.

Russell joined MMC at the age of 15 and continued to appear on the show from 1991 to 1994. The children’s television show featured young boys and girls who could sing and dance, and introduced the world to future stars such as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

In a new interview on the Dinner is on me In a podcast with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the host asked Russell, now 48, whether there was an age limit for young people to participate in the show.

“It’s usually girls who look like they’re sexually active,” she claimed. “And I was probably one of the first. They say, ‘She’s out! She’s out! That one’s gone.'”

However bliss The actress said that the same standard does not apply to her male co-stars. Russell stated that she had a relationship with one of her male MMC Stars who stayed on the show for several years after leaving.

“The boys stayed until they were about 19,” she said. “I said, ‘By the way, I had sex with this person, so I know they had sex.'”

Although the actress did not name the person, she was previously romantically linked to a colleague MMC member Tony Lucca. Lucca left the show in 1995 at the age of 19.

“You know, girls and sexuality, people are so… and by the way, there’s me, I have the body of a 12-year-old boy. There’s nothing really sexy about me, but I think that’s what made me nervous,” Russell said, adding, “Pregnant Mouseketeers are not on the list.”

Looking back on her experience as a child star, she said it was “strange” that she appeared on the show.

“I think the really scariest thing about child acting is that it’s usually one or two kids with a bunch of adults, which really accelerates the adultness of it all,” she said.

“For The Mickey Mouse ClubThere were 19 of us. The adults were invisible to me. I think that was the special thing. I wasn’t completely alone with all the adults and I think that was helpful.”
