According to reports, the commander strategy for Christian McCaffrey’s brother Luke has been decided

The Washington Commanders have a plan for third-round pick Luke McCaffrey.

According to ESPN’s John Keim, the Commanders “view McCaffrey as a slot receiver.”

Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson will be the top two options in the passing game for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, while Dyami Brown, Olamide Zaccheaus and Jamison Crowder will all compete for a role down the depth chart.

However, McCaffrey might have the upper hand in this group. Brown has registered just 29 catches for 476 yards and three touchdowns in three NFL seasons. Zaccheaus managed just 10 catches for 176 yards and two scores last season in Philadelphia, his worst performance since his rookie season in 2019. Crowder played virtually no role for Buffalo in 2022 and Washington last season.

McCaffrey — famously the younger brother of San Francisco 49ers superstar running back Christian McCaffrey, who made the transition from quarterback to wideout in college — probably has the most potential of all.

General manager Adam Peters told Keim that the rookie wideout was good at “getting open, and when he wasn’t open, he was making contested catches. He moves so well. “He moves like a guy who’s maybe 5’10” in terms of his speed. … Seeing him get better and better as the process goes on shows us that he’s only going to get better.”

So if you raid the bargain list in the later rounds of your fantasy draft and aren’t afraid to go for the third or fourth option in Washington’s passing game – a team with a rookie quarterback, it bears repeating – McCaffrey could have some Play as WR5 or WR6. But probably only in very, very deep leagues.
