Armed robbery and standoff in Boston: Details – NBC Boston

Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood breathed a sigh of relief Friday morning after an armed robbery that ended in an hours-long standoff came to an end.

Three people were arrested Thursday evening in connection with the incident, Boston police said.

The incident, which lasted about five hours, began at a barber shop on Blue Hill Avenue and ended at a home on Adams Street.

Officers were still seen on Adams Street Friday morning, where the house remains cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape as the investigation continues.

At around 4 p.m., officers received a call that an armed robbery had taken place at a hair salon in Edwards, police said. Several people, including the owner, were robbed at gunpoint.

When detectives began their investigation, police said they learned that the suspects’ vehicle was in the area and that they had fled to the house on Adams Street.

Shortly thereafter, SWAT teams and negotiators arrived and helped remove two of the three people without incident. The third remained in the home, but not for long. The SWAT team entered the home and arrested the suspect.

“I’ve seen a lot, probably a few special forces, but never anything like this,” said witness Zyon Charles. “It was a lot to process – something I will never forget.”

No injuries were reported.

It is unclear how long officers plan to stay on Adams Street.
