3-year-old girl hit and killed by car in Harlem; 2-year-old child injured: NYPD

HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – A three-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car in Harlem on Thursday, according to the NYPD.

A 2-year-old girl was also injured in the crash, police said. The two children, along with a woman and a 4-month-old baby, were attempting to cross an intersection near 135th Street and Lenox Avenue around 7:40 p.m. when they were struck by a blue Nissan Pathfinder, authorities said.


The 40-year-old driver took the three-year-old girl to Harlem Hospital, which police said is near the scene of the accident. There she was pronounced dead due to severe head injuries.

According to police, neither the woman nor the toddler were injured.

According to authorities, the driver returned to the scene of the accident after taking the three-year-old girl to the hospital to answer questions from police.

The crash is currently being investigated.
