Police have released images of the man they are looking for after two suitcases containing human remains were found on the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police said they were still trying to identify the man in the photo.

A manhunt was launched after officers were called to a man behaving suspiciously on the bridge at 11:57 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers arrived within ten minutes, but the man had already left the scene, leaving a suitcase behind. A second suitcase was found nearby.

A neighbor told The Independent One suitcase was dumped on the bridge and a second was left in the bushes.

The local said the bridge’s security personnel raised the alarm when they saw blood flowing from the suitcase.

On Thursday evening, the search continued in an area on the Leigh Woods side of the bridge where the suspect was last seen on surveillance camera.

“A very disturbing incident”

Bristol Acting Commander Vicks Hayward-Melen said: “This is a very disturbing incident and I am fully aware of the concern it is causing in our community.

“The investigation is being led by our Serious Crime Investigation Team and involves specialist officers and staff from across the organisation.

“Professionals are on hand to provide them with any support they need.”

An eyewitness said he saw a man being chased by a cyclist on the Clifton Suspension Bridge on Wednesday evening.

The person, who wished to remain anonymous, said they saw the man running along Burwalls, a residential street leading to Rownham Hill.
