STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT DAY: Mother Nature traded extreme heat for fierce storms Thursday night as the 2024 monsoon howled back into town.

The big story today was destructive winds that toppled power poles and knocked out power to thousands of homes. Wind speeds of over 70 miles per hour were recorded.

Towards the weekend, significantly stronger monsoon weather is expected in the region.

The greatest dangers will be destructive winds, heavy hail and heavy rain. Maximum temperatures will drop to seasonal levels of just under 38 degrees Celsius.
