Bay Area swimming instructor arrested for sexually abusing children

Tyler Livingston mugshot: Berkeley PD

(KRON) — A man who formerly worked as a swim instructor in the Bay Area was arrested Thursday in a child sexual assault case, Berkeley police said. Detectives with the Berkeley Police Department’s Juvenile Division began the investigation after several parents raised concerns last week about their children’s interactions with the suspect, 25-year-old Tyler Livingston.

To prevent further victims, police said investigations have been launched. On Thursday, detectives executed search and arrest warrants at an address associated with the suspect.

During the operation, Livingston, who had an outstanding warrant for sexual assault, was arrested without incident by Berkeley police in Emeryville. The investigation into this case is ongoing and police are aware that there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

Livingston worked as a swim instructor, police said, and may have been a substitute teacher for a time. Berkeley police encourage victims and their families to come forward.
