Pittsburgh police searching for man in connection with bus stop attack

Police are searching for a man they believe attacked someone at a downtown Pittsburgh bus stop earlier this month. Pittsburgh police released a photo of a man they believe is connected to an attack at the intersection of Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue on July 1. The victim told authorities a “highly intoxicated and disorderly man approached him and began harassing people at the bus stop.” According to the release, the man then approached the victim and kicked him. When the victim asked the man to leave him alone and tried to walk away, he said the man struck him twice in the head with a glass bottle and then threatened him with a pocket knife. The victim suffered two cuts to his head. Police say the suspect fled down Smithfield Street toward Fifth Avenue. He is described as 35 to 45 years old, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with short hair, glasses and a beard. Anyone with information is asked to call Zone 2 detectives at 412-255-2827 or 911.
