Suspect in fatal Knoxville shooting found dead in Florida, US Marshals say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The suspect in a fatal shooting in Knoxville was found dead in Florida, according to David Jolley of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Kevin Matthews, 40, was the suspect in a shooting that killed Zachery Herrera, 28, and John Goosie, 41, at the Pint House on Merchant Drive.

Jolley said police officers tracked Matthews to a motel in Jacksonville, Florida, where he was staying with a woman believed to be his girlfriend.

Jolley added that police officers managed to get the woman out of the motel room and that Matthews shot himself during the operation.

Knoxville police confirmed that Matthews was found in Florida, adding that they were grateful to the Marshals Service for its assistance in the search.
