Man allegedly raped teenage colleague in Ferndale restaurant

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — According to Cambria County police, a Johnstown man has been arrested after months of investigations. He is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting and then stalking a former teenage co-worker at a local restaurant.

According to investigators, Shawn Borsuk, now 53, is accused of raping the teenager when she was 15 at CK’s Wings-n-Things in Ferndale.

According to the affidavit, Ferndale police said the victim described several incidents in which Borsuk allegedly forced her to perform sexual acts while the two worked together at the restaurant.

According to police, the alleged assaults often occurred at the same table where employees prepared the food.

According to investigators, the victim said she first met Borsuk when she started working at the restaurant in March 2022.

According to the victim’s statement, police said Borsuk was responsible for her education and soon began making sexual advances toward her, including kissing.

According to the victim’s statement, Borsuk then allegedly began sending her messages in an attempt to build a “relationship” with her, according to police.

According to the affidavit, the alleged assaults at the restaurant all occurred when the owner left the restaurant to make deliveries.

According to police, when questioned, the owner stated that both the victim and Borsuk behaved as if they were “in a relationship.”

Upon further investigation, police learned that Borsuk had also allegedly assaulted the victim at his Adams Street home and that he had frequently given her marijuana prior to the alleged assaults.

According to police, Borsuk continued to have contact with the victim even after quitting his job at the restaurant, telling her, “He knows it’s wrong and that no one will believe him if she talks about what he’s doing to her.”

Investigators said that when they first questioned Borsuk in May, they learned through cell phone data that he had allegedly stalked the victim.

According to the victim, police learned of an incident in February in which Borsuk followed her and her friend to the Galleria Mall and then left a note on her car.

According to investigators, Borsuk stated in the letter that he was “not stalking” the victim and expressed a desire to speak to her.

As the investigation continued, police learned that Borsuk had been questioned by Conemaugh Township police last year in connection with two other allegations of sexual assault involving the same victim.

According to authorities, unwanted contact between Borsuk and the victim continued, and Borsuk repeatedly appeared at her new workplace.

According to police, Borsuk also allegedly sent the victim a sex toy as a “Christmas present.”

According to investigators, the victim also described a message in which Borsuk allegedly stated that he was hiding in a shed in her backyard and threatened to kill himself in the shed so “she would find his body.”

According to police, the victim’s new employer later confirmed that Borsuk had repeatedly called her and shown up at work.

According to authorities, investigators then attempted to help the victim file a PFA against Borsuk, after which he allegedly sent her and her caseworker another letter.

In the letter, according to police, Borsuk claimed that the victim was trying to blackmail him and that she had “a history of substance abuse and sexually deviant behavior” that was “encouraged by one or both of her parents.”

Police added that before charging the victim, officers learned that Borsuk had contacted a friend of the victim and stated that “their relationship was more than just sexual.”

According to authorities, Borsuk also stated that he was “in love with the victim.”

According to police, Borsuk later admitted to sending the messages but denied having sexual contact with the victim.

Investigators noted in the affidavit that they were convinced that Borsuk had “exploited” and “groomed” the victim.

According to online court records, Borsuk was arraigned earlier this week on a variety of charges, including rape, sexual assault of a minor, aggravated sexual assault without consent, and harassment and enticement of a minor.

He is in the Cambria County Jail and bail is set at $750,000.
