Ozone pollution warning for North Texas until Friday evening

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has issued an air quality warning for Friday. The warning applies to Wise, Denton, Collin, Hunt, Parker, Tarrant, Dallas, Rockwall, Kaufman, Hood, Johnson, Ellis and Henderson counties.

“The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has declared an Ozone Action Day for the Dallas-Fort Worth region for Friday, July 12, 2024. Atmospheric conditions on Friday are expected to be favorable for the creation of high ozone levels in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. You can help prevent ozone pollution by carpooling, walking, biking, bringing your lunch to work, avoiding drive-through lanes, conserving energy, and properly maintaining your vehicle,” the NWS Fort Worth TX statement said.

This warning is valid until Friday at 17:45

Follow these simple tips from the NWS to stay safe during an air quality warning

• Stay indoors if possible, especially if you have respiratory or other health problems, or if you are elderly or a child.

• If you must leave the house, limit the time you spend outside to absolutely essential activities.

• Minimize the use of items that increase pollution, such as cars, gasoline-powered lawn mowers, and other vehicles.

• Do not burn garbage or other objects during an air quality alert.
