STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT DAY: The heat is here, but storms are forecast | Warnings

STORMTRACKER 4 ALERT DAY: Today is an ALERT DAY for Tucson due to extreme heat! Storms and damaging winds are also forecast for today.

An Extreme Heat Warning is currently in effect for most of Southern Arizona until 8:00 p.m. tonight.

The biggest impact is the health risks associated with extreme heat. The risk of heat exhaustion, heat cramps, heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses increases significantly after several days of extreme heat.

It is important to wear light and loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and try to avoid strenuous activities during the hottest periods. Instead, try to schedule activities for the early morning or evening hours.

The risk of storms remains in Pima, Santa Cruz, Cochise and Graham counties today. Storms will move in from the south and east between 1 and 3 p.m. The storms will eventually spread to the Tucson area, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds at times. The greatest danger will be localized flooding and wind gusts up to 70 mph. The greatest danger will be damaging winds and dust over the next two days.
