Arson in Manhattan investigated as hate crime: NYPD

LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) – Police are searching for a man who allegedly deliberately set a fire and damaged a Hatzalah emergency vehicle on July 6.

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. in front of 557 Grand Street.


The surveillance camera footage shows the man kneeling in the back of the vehicle. Shortly afterwards, a small fire can be seen breaking out.

According to police, the person was last seen wearing a blue shirt, gray shorts and white sneakers.

This case is being investigated by the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force.
