Verdict passed in case of cruel animal cruelty in Adin

CASE UPDATE and VERDICT OF HISTORY

CHRISTIAN LEE CLEVEN-CORWIN, 37, was found guilty by a jury on 30 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals on July 10, 2024.
In October 2022, a deputy was dispatched to investigate a dog bite that allegedly occurred in the Lassen County portion of an Adin address. Upon arrival, the deputy observed various animals in varying stages of neglect, living in inhumane conditions, and the property was littered with animal carcasses (sheriff’s office photos below).

Four people have been charged with 32 counts of aggravated animal cruelty. One suspect was not called to testify after a preliminary hearing, and another is currently at large on an arrest warrant.

The trial of Cleven-Corwin and co-defendant Jessica Wick was scheduled for July 8. Wick failed to appear and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Mr. Cleven-Corwin’s trial continued and resulted in 30 felony convictions. Sentencing is scheduled for September.
