4 family members, including a child, killed in Alameda shooting; father in custody

ALAMEDA, California – According to police, several family members, including children, were shot in Alameda on Wednesday evening and four people are dead.

According to police, one of those killed was a small child. The child’s father is in custody. A small child is also in critical condition.

Officers received a call from a person who said their neighbor had been shot in the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road. When police arrived, they found a gunshot victim. While clearing the residence, officers also found “several family members” with gunshot wounds, including children, Alameda police said.

A suspect is in custody and according to police, he is the father of the killed child.

“We are deeply saddened to report that three victims did not survive and additional family members are being treated at local hospitals,” Alameda police said on Facebook at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday evening. “There is currently no information to indicate there is a danger to the public. The investigation is ongoing and we will release more information as it becomes available.”
