Colorado man sentenced to 10 years in prison for tomahawk attack at Lake Mead

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (KOLO) – A Colorado man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after attacking a person with a tomahawk axe at Lake Mead in 2018.

The court found that 48-year-old Christopher Dewey Booker repeatedly struck and beat a person with the weapon, causing serious injuries.

The victim suffered at least 22 injuries, including broken bones, lacerations, partial severance of his left hand, and partial facial paralysis. The victim also suffered long-term loss and damage to his jaw and permanent damage to his left hand.

Booker was indicted in May 2023 and pleaded guilty in April 2024 to one count of assault causing serious injury.

Booker must serve three years probation after his release.
