Latest Sabres News Coming to Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres acquired Ryan Mcleod from the Edmonton Oilers last week. He believes his two-way game can help the Sabres this season.

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, he was drafted by the Oilers in the second round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He played junior hockey with the Mississauga Steelheads and Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.

Mcleod scored 12 goals and had 18 assists last regular season with Edmonton. He also scored four goals during the Oilers’ run to the Stanley Cup Final.

“I play both sides of the puck and I think my defensive game really helps me. They can be tough to play against,” he said. “I can play against the best players and hopefully neutralize them.”

While a few of his former teammates are already members of the Bleu et Or, forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel says he joined the Sabres because he was looking for a team that could provide some stability in the playoffs and thought the Sabres were a good fit.

“I’m pretty excited to start something new, but I also have some familiar faces in Buffalo,” Aube-Kubel said.

Aube-Kubel, 28, spent last season with the Washington Capitals, where he scored six goals and 16 points in 60 games. His best NHL season came with the Colorado Avalanche in 2021-22, when he scored 22 points in 67 games and helped the Avs win a Stanley Cup.
