New Jersey cemetery worker killed in tree felling accident

A 22-year-old cemetery worker died while operating tree chippers in Flemington on Wednesday, officials said.

Eonias Mateo-Perez of Flemington was pronounced dead after police were called to St. Magdalen Cemetery around 6:20 p.m., the Hunterdon County District Attorney’s Office said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Authority is also conducting investigations.

According to OHSA’s online records, there have been no safety violations at the cemetery since 2010.
