Nursing assistant

Tasks:
Meets the expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Vital signs are fully recorded and reported.
Answers telephone calls, records necessary information, and forwards calls or messages to appropriate personnel. Keeps patient records current. Informs nurse of significant changes in patient’s condition within 5 minutes of identification. Requests supplies and equipment. Returns all films by end of shift. Transports patients as directed. Obtains x-rays and medical records as directed. Assists in chemotherapy area as needed. Maintains sufficient blank charts for new patients. Types correspondence, reports, and photocopies as directed. Ensures all charts are accompanied by appropriate forms for documentation. Forwards messages to appropriate nurse within 5-10 minutes of receiving message. Prioritizes orders in the order entry system in a timely and accurate manner. All reports are posted in a timely and accurate manner. Schedules patient appointments in physician’s office, other departments, and at follow-up. Uses computer systems appropriately. Assists others as needed and always uses time constructively. Admits all patients prior to the day of initial consultation. Answers telephone calls appropriately, screens calls, creates charts, and routes messages to appropriate personnel in a professional manner. Demonstrates ability to recognize priorities and handle them appropriately.
Order entry for radiological and laboratory procedures.
Collects co-payments and brings the money to the appropriate area.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital setting preferred. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification preferred upon hire and required within 30 days of hire

Pay: $15.00 – $20.04 per hour – PRN, daily rate.
