Police are asking for the public’s help after five people were shot at a party in Dorchester last night, including four “young adults”, including an 11-year-old.

Shortly before midnight, Mayor Michelle Wu and Police Commissioner Felipe Colon spoke to the media on site.

As police announced this morning, the victims are an 11-year-old, a 21-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman.

“We really need the public’s help here,” Colon said, adding that police are accepting anonymous or random tips.

He said all five shots did not cause life-threatening injuries. The gunman opened fire on Greenwood Street near the corner of Ellington Street, police said. One of the victims is an 11-year-old youth.

The gunman “fired into the group,” and Colon added that multiple shots were fired.

“It is terrible to be here tonight … we still feel the horror of the violence that interrupts the family reunion,” the mayor said, adding that there is “still a lot of work to do” in the city. She reiterated her dismay at the shooting in Spanish.

“Our trauma teams are on site,” Wu added.

Colon said the shooting occurred at an outdoor gathering and arrests were made.
