Deputy shot dead in Harris County, northeast Florida | Houston News

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez released a news story about the shooting early Thursday morning. The deputy was 28 and had been with HCSO for five years.

HOUSTON — A Harris County police officer was shot and killed Saturday night in the northeast part of the county, and a manhunt is now underway for his killer.

It happened along the Italian Cypress Trail near Tidwell and Beltway 8. At this point, we don’t have details on the shooting, but Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told X that the deputy was on duty at the time.

Gonzalez said the deputy was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

The deputy, whose identity has not been released, was 28 and had worked at the sheriff’s office for five years, according to Gonzalez.

So far there is no information about an arrest or a description of the suspect.

“Our thoughts are with his family as they deal with this horrific news,” Gonzalez wrote. “An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend his killer. We will not rest until we find closure!”
