Deputy shot dead in northeast Harris County | Houston news

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez released a report on the shooting early Thursday morning. The deputy was 28 years old and had been with HCSO for five years.

HOUSTON — A Harris County deputy was shot and killed overnight in northeast Harris County. The manhunt is underway to find his killer.

It happened along the Italian Cypress Trail, which is near Tidwell and Beltway 8. We don’t have any details about the shooting at this time, but Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told X that the deputy was on duty at the time.

Gonzalez posted that the congressman was hospitalized in critical condition and later died.

The deputy, whose identity was not disclosed, was 28 years old and had been with the sheriff for five years, according to Gonzalez.

So far there is no information about an arrest or a description of the suspect.

“Our thoughts are with his family as they come to terms with this terrible news,” Gonzalez wrote. “Investigations are underway to identify and arrest his killer. We will not rest until we have done so!”
