Where to Find Water Playgrounds in the Houston Area

HOUSTON, Texas — Wading pools are a free and fun way to cool off in the Greater Houston area, especially amid power outages caused by Hurricane Beryl.

Discovery Green in downtown Houston is a favorite summertime spot for families because it has two places to get wet.

Due to necessary cleanup after Hurricane Beryl, Gateway fountains are not operating and restrooms are closed until all repairs can be made.

The Gateway Fountain shoots water up to 14 feet into the air and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Swim diapers are required for infants and toddlers and water shoes are encouraged for all children.

People of all ages will enjoy the water and mist coming from the Mistree, a work of art by Doug Hollis of San Francisco.

The mist cloud is created by 80 nozzles inside the stainless steel sculpture.

The attraction is open daily from 6am to 11pm, except in case of strong winds. You will find it in the Sarofim picnic area.

Hermann Park’s interactive water playground is part of the Buddy Caruth Park designed for children of all abilities.

The City of Houston offers free water spray areas at area parks. They are open year-round, weather permitting.

Field of constellations has 1 Stadium Drive also has a free splash pad for children attending Space Cowboys games.

The May Valley Park Water Playground in The Woodlands is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through October 31.

Clear Lake Park’s Dolphin Lagoon splash pad is open. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
