After investigation of suspicious items, travel at MSP airport will resume

Traffic cameras confirmed the presence of police and heavy traffic congestion at the entrance to Terminal 1 on Highway 5.

MINNEAPOLIS — Terminal 1 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is fully open and vehicle traffic to the main terminal has resumed following a temporary closure late Wednesday afternoon.

In a social media post, MSP Airport said police had completed their investigation into “a suspicious object in the north of Terminal 1,” but did not confirm further details.

Social media users posted that police were blocking the entrance to Terminal 1 from Highway 5. MnDOT cameras confirmed patrol cars in the area, but by 6:15 p.m., traffic appeared to be flowing toward the airport again. In its post, MSP Airport said the “access road has reopened and all areas on the ticket and baggage claim level are fully open.”
