Heavy police presence near Lake Minnequa. Avoid the area.

(PUEBLO, Colorado) – The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) is asking the public to avoid a neighborhood near Lake Minnequa after a 17-year-old was shot and killed while officers attempt to apprehend the suspect.

According to PPD, on Wednesday, July 10, around 1 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was hospitalized with a gunshot wound that left him in serious condition.

According to PPD, officers were able to identify a possible suspect and are currently working to locate and contact the suspect in the 2400 block of Lake Avenue on the northwest side of Lake Minnequa. According to PPD, there is a heavy police presence in the surrounding neighborhood and the public is asked to avoid the area.
