Police say two women were arrested for prostitution after a motel raid

TUPELO, Mississippi (WMC) – Tupelo police have arrested two Memphis women and charged them with human trafficking after investigating a report of prostitution.

On July 8, 2024, officers received a call regarding suspected prostitution at a local motel within the city limits of Tupelo.

Officers arrived at the hotel and made contact with three people in a room.

During further investigations, two women were identified and arrested.

Terraneika Poplar, 19, and Destiney Plummer, 20, were arrested and charged with human trafficking.

Tupelo police were able to make the arrests and rescue a female minor.

On July 9, 2024, Poplar and Plummer appeared in Tupelo Municipal Court for the first time. Both women were denied bail.
