Settlement of an incident and dispute involving a cop without charges

By Lt. Dave Mitchell, Iron County Sheriff’s Office

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from Old Iron Town on July 8, 2024, regarding an incident involving a bull and a physical altercation between two men. Officers found that a man had been gored by the bull and an altercation had occurred between two other men.

Upon arrival of Gold Cross Ambulance personnel, rescue flights were initially requested for the injured person. However, after assessing the victim’s condition, it was decided that the person could be transported by ambulance. Consequently, rescue flights were no longer required.

The two men involved in the altercation chose not to press charges. The fire inspector was notified and found the bull’s owner. The bull was then removed from populated areas. After the call was terminated, officers took no further action.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all rescuers and individuals involved for their cooperation and the quick resolution of the incident. Going forward, we stress the importance of using caution when handling animals and reporting any related incidents to the appropriate authorities.
