Spare the Air warning issued for North Bay

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District extended the “Spare the Air” warning for North Bay through Thursday due to health-threatening ozone levels. The warning was first issued on Tuesday for Wednesday.

Air quality in the region is classified as “moderate,” meaning some sensitive groups may be affected.

Residents should limit driving and spending time outdoors and be aware of potential health effects, such as lung irritation and inflammation of lung tissue.

Due to the ongoing heat wave, the National Weather Service issued two heat advisories for Wednesday through Friday.

A heat advisory is in effect for the North Bay Interior Mountains, which include parts of Napa and Sonoma counties, from 11 a.m. Wednesday to 8 p.m. Friday. These areas will experience “dangerously hot” temperatures, some reaching nearly 110 degrees, with little cooling overnight.
