Man found dead, woman arrested for murder in New Albany

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WIBC) – A man was found dead in a New Albany home and a woman has been charged with murder.

On Tuesday evening around 7:30 p.m., Jeffersonville police officers responded to the parking lot of a Meijer store near Allison Lane in Jeffersonville because they were notified that a woman was possibly suicidal. After speaking with the woman, they decided to conduct a welfare check at a home on East 11th Street in downtown New Albany.

When officers arrived at the home, they found 68-year-old Gary D. Reid dead on the floor of his home, with “an apparent head injury.”

“We’re not talking about motives. We don’t have all the information, you know, maybe we can’t say exactly how and why at this point. That’s something our investigators will continue to work on. But it’s obviously a tragic situation. Something we don’t like to see and something we obviously don’t like to work on. But you know, our investigators will continue to work on until they find all the answers,” said Sergeant Cary Huls of the Indiana State Police.

Huls says the woman Jeffersonville police initially spoke with, 26-year-old Tirzah Catherine Linson of Clarksville, was taken to Norton Clark Hospital for evaluation.

Police believe they have gathered enough information to arrest Linson for murder. After being examined at the hospital, she was taken to the Floyd County Jail.
