Video from a church in Gwinnett County shows a man wearing a hoodie walking up to a glass door with a ratchet in his hand. He immediately began smashing the glass at 12Stone Church, breaking all the windows he could see before walking away and getting into his car.

According to Gwinnett police, Rangel spent four hours doing the same thing at four different churches. Police said Rangal smashed windows and a security camera at Zione Hill Baptist Church. “It appears that there was neither a logical explanation nor any possible motive for this,” police said.

Authorities tracked Rangel using geofencing and license plate readers that located his vehicle at each crime scene.

Police have not yet determined why these churches were the target of the attacks, but confirmed that repair costs for each of the two institutions will amount to thousands of dollars.

“The suspect confessed to the vandalism and was taken into custody,” police said.

Rangel is currently in custody on $68,000 bail and is charged with four counts of vandalism of a place of worship.
