Buffalo man charged with drug possession in Ontario County

A Buffalo man was arrested Tuesday after an Ontario County sheriff’s deputy found 9 kilograms of cocaine and 4 kilograms of methamphetamine in his rental SUV following a traffic stop.

Marlon G. Holt Jr., 50, was charged with a federal felony count of possession and distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court.

An Ontario County deputy stopped Holt’s vehicle Tuesday, and Holt said he was returning from New York after doing drywall work, Homeland Security Investigations agent Patrick Hayes wrote. But a license plate reader had registered Holt’s rental vehicle being in Myrtle Springs, Texas, on May 5, Hayes said.

According to the complaint, Holt provided inconsistent and misleading answers to the deputy’s questions during the traffic stop.

An Ontario County judge issued a warrant allowing law enforcement officers to search the vehicle. Police found the drugs hidden behind a rear panel. They seized the drugs and $10,000 in cash that Holt had in his possession, Hayes said.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer conditionally released Holt at his arraignment Thursday.
