Shehu Sani mocks El-Rufai: “Kaduna raped, rapist wants honour”

Senator Shehu Sani accused the previous government of Kaduna State of looting the state treasury and leaving the children and grandchildren of the state with a huge debt burden.

In a scathing attack, Sani alleged that the former officials embezzled billions of naira meant for projects, including a light rail project that never existed. He also said they tied the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) to fraudulent bank loans, thereby stifling the state’s economy.

The senator compared the situation to the rape of a woman, where the rapist seeks honor.

He vowed that the state would recover every cent stolen by the former officials, whom he called “rodents” and their leader a “thief.”

Sani’s comments are the latest in Elrufa’s struggle to extricate himself from a damning indictment alleging that he embezzled 432 billion naira during his tenure as governor between 2015 and 2003. It should also be recalled that some of his former commissioners had appeared at press conferences twice in three weeks to defend him.
