Man arrested after allegedly “sexually abusing” a girl, complaint says

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (LEX 18) – According to a criminal complaint filed in Fayette County Circuit Court, a man was arrested and charged with allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in October 2023.

The complaint detailed that Luis Gustavo Hernandez Thomas “committed first degree sexual abuse” on October 29, 2023, after Lexington police were called to a home on Village Drive. The caller told police that her daughter had been “sexually abused by a known person” and that they had argued about the incident.

Upon arrival, the complaint states, police were told that the 13-year-old victim had been subjected to “sexual contact” by Thomas, the boyfriend of the girl’s maternal aunt.

According to the complaint, the girl told officers during an interview that she had spent the night at her aunt’s house and that Thomas had “sexual contact with her” while trying to fall asleep.

The lawsuit further states that during questioning at the crime scene, Thomas “denied allegations of any sexual contact with the girl” and said he merely “hugged” her.

On November 15, 2023, according to the complaint, a forensic interview was conducted with the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass, in which the girl stated that the “sexual contact” with Thomas occurred multiple times while he was “drinking with his friends” that evening.

Thomas is in the Fayette County Detention Center.
