Electrician in Nunavut dies in “tragic work accident”

“QEC is deeply saddened to confirm that a tragic industrial accident occurred at one of our Naujaat facilities on Friday 5 July, resulting in the death of one of our electricians,” the company said in a statement, according to the report.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and colleagues affected by this terrible loss.”

According to the report, the Nunavut Occupational Safety and Compensation Commission said it was investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, Daniel Kinsella, executive director of the Nunavut Employees Union, said that while he was not sure who the worker killed was, he believed he was a union member.

He called on QEC to be transparent about the incident.
