Four people are in custody after burglarizing a wig store and a gas station strip mall in Houston, both of which were without power in the wake of Hurricane Beryl.

The Houston Police Department said the two incidents were separate and that in both cases two people were working together.

In the first incident at 4400 Lockwood Dr. at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, suspects Carlos Flores and Curtis Davis were arrested. The address is a corner gas station with a mini-mall that includes the gas station’s convenience store, a Boost Mobile and a Wing Stop.

In the second incident, Amber Washington and Charles Richardson were arrested for targeting Ultra Wigs at 9401 Cullen Blvd. at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday.

Bail amounts were not specified for Flores and Davis, but bail for Washington and Richardson was set at $4,000 and $5,000, respectively. All four are charged with burglary of a building.

“These (four) burglary suspects attempted to take advantage of the power outages due to Hurricane Beryl by burglarizing two businesses,” HPD said on its Facebook page. “Our officers immediately took them into custody.”

An HPD spokesperson reiterated that the two incidents were separate and there was no connection between the two burglaries. All four men are scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 11 a.m.
