Buffalo Pro Soccer holds public meeting to provide club update

Buffalo Pro Soccer hopes to play matches during the 2026 USL Championship League season, but where remains a mystery.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Last March, Peter Marlette Jr. announced the formation of Buffalo Pro Soccer with plans to compete in the 2026 USL Championship League season.

Marlette and the club are now holding a public meeting to provide an update on the progress made to the public.

“We are progressing very well and very much on schedule, in fact, in many ways ahead of schedule,” Marlette said.

Marlette says they are looking for feedback from the public on what they want to see from the club, such as kit colors, match day equipment and more.

“A big goal of what I’m trying to do is answer fans’ questions, but also ask my own questions. What colors do you like? What names do you like, logos? What is important to you?” said Marlette.

But where Buffalo Pro Soccer will play remains a mystery. Marlette has announced plans to build a stadium somewhere in Buffalo for the 2026 season, but no location has yet been finalized.

“We currently have four finalist sites,” Marlette said. “I will say they are all in the city of Buffalo, downtown or very near downtown and we are constantly in contact with the owners, developers or stakeholders of these sites.”

Funding the stadium, and even the team itself, will require additional investment, Marlette said. The club does not rule out a crowdsourcing approach.

“Oakland launched a crowdfunding campaign last September and raised $3 million very quickly.” said Marlette. “What it allowed them to do was obviously get some money in the bank and, you know, improve their setup in some way, but in reality it gave the fans a real membership, real financial ownership and real interest in the team, that’s something we’re exploring.”
