Harris County Issues Boil Water Advisory

HOUSTON (KIAH) – The aftermath of Hurricane Beryl continues in Houston. More than a million residents are still without power as they rush to nearby grocery stores and gas stations for food, water and air conditioning. Centerpoint and Entergy are working around the clock to restore power throughout the Houston area.

Centerpoint hopes to have most of the power restored by Wednesday night. On Tuesday, President Biden granted Texas a federal state of emergency through FEMA.

Now, Houston counties are under a boil water advisory. The Texas Office of Public Utility Counsel has announced boil water advisories near the following areas:

  • Harris County Municipal Utility District 421
  • Harris County Fresh Water Supply District 45
  • Western Trails Subdivision Water System
  • Oakwood Water System
  • Decker Hills Water System
  • Crystal Springs Water System

Officials are urging people living near these water systems to boil their water before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, and cooking. If you can’t boil water, keep a few cases of bottled water on hand. Be sure to notify your neighbors and others who may not be aware of the advisory. CW39 Houston’s Carrigan Chauvin explains how you can check your neighborhood for boil water advisories whenever your area is facing severe weather.
