Alabama man arrested in Florida hotel and charged with human trafficking

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of an Alabama man facing drug charges for trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine.

According to authorities, on July 2, 2024, the BCSO’s Special Investigations Division executed a search warrant at a hotel located at 5126 W. Highway 98 after investigators determined that illegal drug trafficking was taking place there.


When officers searched the hotel room, they found a commercial quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine on 32-year-old Jeremy Castiel Burness of Enterprise, Alabama.

Burness, a convicted felon, was also in possession of a pistol.

Burnette was arrested for trafficking fentanyl (more than 4 grams but less than 14 grams), trafficking methamphetamine (more than 28 grams but less than 200 grams), illegal possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office said.

Burnette is in the Bay County Jail and is being held on $166,000 bail.
