ISP launches homicide investigation after Southern Indiana homeowner found dead; woman arrested

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WANE) – A woman was arrested Tuesday after a southern Indiana man was found dead in his home, prompting Indiana State Police to launch a homicide investigation.

The investigation began around 7:30 p.m. when Jeffersonville police officers were called to a convenience store parking lot for a woman who was allegedly suicidal, according to an ISP news release. During a conversation with the woman – identified by the ISP as 26-year-old Tirzah Linson – police decided a wellness check should be conducted at a home in New Albany.

New Albany officers responded to a home on East 11th Street and found the homeowner lying on the ground, apparently dead from an apparent head injury, the news release said. ISP identified the man as 68-year-old Gary Reid.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week, and ISP described the case as a homicide investigation.

The ISP conducted interviews near the New Albany home and investigators examined the crime scene.

The Clarksville woman was subsequently arrested for murder, ISP said. After an examination at the hospital, Linson was taken to the Floyd County Jail.

The connection between the suspect and the victim was not revealed.
