Riverside County teenager shot, two men killed: officials

An 18-year-old from Riverside County has been arrested in connection with the murder of two men in the town of Blythe, officials say.

According to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Blythe Police Department requested assistance after locating two crime scenes related to the double homicide that occurred at 8:12 p.m. Monday.


The first crime scene occurred in the 500 block of East Avenue A, where the victims were found in a company parking lot, and a second crime scene was located a short distance away in the 900 block of East Avenue B.

Immediately after the shooting, the area was closed to all pedestrian and vehicle traffic, RSO added.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. They were identified as Blythe residents Audelio Solorio, 45, and Deveon Keyshawn Smith, 27.

Detectives from the RSO’s Colorado River Station and the Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation and quickly identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jose Angel Manjarrez, also of Blythe.

He was arrested and booked into Blythe Jail on two counts of first-degree murder. Inmate records show he is being held on $1 million bail.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday at 8 a.m. in Blythe Court.
