Red Dead Redemption 2 players discover creepy NPC details after 500 hours

It is a question of life and death

We’re back with another installment of “How the Hell Did We Miss This?” Today we’re talking about a pretty creepy NPC “encounter” in Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has so much depth that the characters and world come to life. However, with all these intricacies, it’s easy to miss interesting details as we explore.

Has the outlaw life chosen you? It is time to return to Red Dead Redemption 2

While this latest discovery isn’t as disturbing as a game secret that changed our view of the game’s poor sheep, it does raise questions.

When Redditor Humourousmonkeyman rode through the Wild West, he didn’t expect to come across desiccated NPC remains.

This nightmarish discovery was not only a shock for them – there were also other players who had not seen the body (or should we say what was left of it) in 500 hours of play.

As kdaak noted, “This is crazy, I’ve never seen anything like this in 500 hours.”

The fact that we can put so much time and effort into this Rockstar title and still be surprised after all these years is thanks to the developers.

Many players have said that the NPCs they kill usually disappear. However, sometimes a defeated NPC can stay behind and decay, similar to what the OP reported.

One fan learned this the hard way: “I accidentally killed one of my horses with dynamite near the last camp and could see his body decomposing every time I walked to and from camp for the rest of the game session.”

Mistakes have been made that cannot be undone.

For anyone curious as to how far the decay can go in the game, another Redditor has a surefire method to achieve the morbid results you desire.

User ThatSkeletonInBlack explained: “It absolutely goes down to the skeleton stage. I’ve done it. Set up a camp somewhere, then kill an NPC, bring them to the camp, drop them off and just keep sleeping, eating and crafting for several days and you’ll see.”

We do not condemn you if you decide to do so, but we will limit ourselves to looking at this horrifying image from a distance and not up close.
